Liquid Web Overview
What Is Liquid Web?
Liquid Web Hosting has been around for 24 years. They describe their mission as a ‘company devoted to web and cloud professionals like you.’ As a business, their focus is so that their customers can grow their business and focus on what matters.
They like to encourage their customers to leave the web hosting to the professionals, which is an excellent way of making your business run that little bit smoother.
They claim that their focus ‘translates to products, services and support designed specifically for mission-critical sites, stores and applications. With a clear emphasis on helping their customers grow.
Liquid Web Hosting also claims that they have the industry’s best customer loyalty. This Liquid Web hosting review will look into to assess whether this claim is valid.
They also claim to have over 45,000 customers in over 150 countries worldwide, with over half a million sites under their management. Impressive figures for a company that has been around 22 years—clearly a sign of continuous growth.
One part of their website is clear, and that is how helpful the team at Liquid Web claims to be. This review will focus mainly on this claim. At first glance, it seems that this unique selling point is something they are aiming to push.
The hosting they provide includes WordPress Hosting and Managed VPS, Cloud VPS, Dedicated servers and more.
Liquid Web’s Alternative Hosting Packages
This comprehensive Liquid Web review will go into exactly how well they’ve performed across their 22-year history.
Here’s a complete look at our hands-on test with Liquid Webs Managed WordPress plans. Please keep reading to see what we found.
Speed & Reliability
How Fast Is Liquid Web?
For the average business today, speed and accessibility are becoming more critical to hosting providers than ever. When it comes to speed, Liquid Web has an excellent history across the web hosting space.
This is an excellent sign. Google is becoming more competitive every day since we’ve understood that speed is also factored into Google’s ranking algorithm.
Liquid Web Speed Test
As you can see in the results above, our Liquid Web test site responded with an initial load time of 402 milliseconds. This is a good rating, but not the fastest. We’ve seen quicker from other web hosts.
Load Impact & Stress Test Results
However, loading times alone don’t paint the entire picture of performance, so we also check out how host plans fare under a bit of stress.
To do this, we use the K6 Load Impact tool to check out how our test site performs with up to 50 concurrent virtual visitors for five minutes.
Liquid Web K6 Stress Test Results
Overall, as you can see from the graph above, the response time (blue line) didn’t substantially increase as the test progressed.
Even when 50 virtual users (represented by the grey line) accessed the site simultaneously, the response time remained stable. This is excellent compared with many of the other we’ve hosts we’ve reviewed so far.
Liquid Web Hosting Uptime
When assessing the uptime, again, Liquid Web has an array of glowing reviews online. As we’ve learned with Google’s algorithm changes and the effects of page speed, the impact of uptime is also critical to a successful online business.
Liquid Web currently offers an uptime guarantee to all customers. This kind of promise is a great way to ensure credibility and transparency with your customers. Our research shows that Liquid Web’s uptime score has been 99.99% over the last six months!
As we know, more UK-based businesses are moving online. Not just due to the rise and popularity of online point of sale but also due to COVID19, when many UK-based companies had no option but to close their bricks and mortar stores.
It is excellent that web hosting platforms such as Liquid Web provide a great space for business owners to trade online with excellent speeds and guaranteed uptime to keep you afloat.
Pricing & Plans
How Much Does Liquidweb Cost?
Liquid Web Hosting currently offers a wide range of hosting options. There are an impressive seven options to assess in terms of their managed WordPress hosting options (which they are best known for providing). These are Spark, Maker, Designer and Builder, Producer, Executive and Enterprise.
Liquid Webs’ Managed WordPress Hosting Plans
The best part about this is that each plan is incredibly different to ensure the needs of their customers are met. Across other web hosting platforms, seven is the highest amount of plan options we’ve seen.
The benefit to this is that it can ensure that no matter where you are on your business journey, there is an option for a beginner right through to an advanced professional.
However, having seven different plans to go through and explore will be a negative point for some customers.
Offering too much across too many plans can be confusing and require time and effort in researching. If you are new to web hosting providers, this complexity may prevent you from choosing Liquid Web.
In terms of each plan, we will analyse what their unique selling point is.
The ‘Spark’ Plan
For Spark, this will set you back at £13.65 per month. This plan includes one site, 15 GB storage, reasonable 2 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
The ‘Maker’ Plan
The next jump is Maker, which will set you back at £56.70 per month. Quite a significant jump in price from Spark to Maker. This plan includes up to 5 sites, 40 GB storage, 3 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
The ‘Designer’ Plan
Then up next, we have Designer who will set you back £78.32 a month. This plan includes up to ten sites, 60 GB storage, impressive 4 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
The ‘Builder’ Plan
Again moving along the plans, we have Builder, which will set you back £107 a month. This plan includes up to 25 sites, 100 GB storage, impressive 5 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
The ‘Producer’ Plan
Next, we have Producer, which takes a massive jump from Builder and will set you back £143.20 a month. This plan includes up to 50 sites, 300 GB storage, impressive 5 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
The ‘Executive’ Plan
Then again, at nearly double the cost, we have Executive, which will set you back £263 per month. This plan includes up to a massive 100 sites, 500 GB storage, ultra-impressive 10 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
The ‘Enterprise’ Plan
Finally, we have Enterprise, a considerable investment setting you back at £479 per month.
This plan includes up to an unbelievable 250 sites, 800 GB storage, ultra-impressive 10 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, impressive unlimited email accounts, Beaver Builder Lite and iThemes Security Pro and iThemes Sync.
Interesting to note that Liquid Web does offer 14 days free trial to test out the platform before you commit.
As part of this trial, they don’t take your credit card or payment details as they claim that they are ‘so confident you’ll like it we don’t even ask for a credit card.’ This offer is a massive temptation to new customers who may be nervous about committing.
As you can see, these prices climb quickly if you need more resources from your hosting plan, but how do they compare to other providers on the market?

Help & Support
How Good Is Liquid Webs Support?
Customer support levels can be the difference between a good web hosting provider and a very poor one. Something every business can’t go without, and Liquid Web makes some big promises in this space.
Their level of customer service and support is one of their most highlighted features across their website.
Liquid Web offers great support across multiple platforms
They offer support access across telephone and live chat services 24 hours a day across 365 days of the year.
The beauty of this level of customer support is that it is clear that Liquid Web has researched what its customers want. They’ve understood the needs of their customers and the importance of accessible real-time support.
Excellent Knowledge Base
Liquid Web has plenty of resources to help you get up an running
So many other hosting providers in this space do not do enough to counteract this kind of issue. In today’s online world, we can’t look past this impressive feature.
They claim that they are ‘The Most Helpful Humans In Hosting,’ and we agree.
Features & Products
What Features & Services Do Liquid Web Offer?
We’ve already listed out quite a few (of the many) features of Liquid Web so far. However, let’s go back a few steps and drill down to what should be essential features for a new business that has never used a service like this before.
The plan and pricing structure are pretty reasonable. While there are seven options, which could turn someone off if you drill down on their offerings, this in-depth way of choosing a plan could also ensure you are only paying for the type of features you’ll need.
Even at their most entry-level plan, Spark, this basic ‘entry level’ plan still has a great set of features to get you off and running at only £13.65 per month. This plan includes one site, 15 GB storage, reasonable 2 TB bandwidth, 30-day backups, and impressive unlimited email accounts.
Liquid Web have an intuitive customer dashboard
Secondly, Liquid Web has thought a lot about its customer service. 24/7 customer service is hugely impressive.
This is a great assurance for a new business or someone who isn’t confident working across a new platform. If you ever get stuck or need support quickly, there is help available.
Security & Protection
Is My Website Secure With Liquidweb?
The Liquid Web team clearly understands security. It states on their website, ‘We include security, the performance-enhancement of a CDN and DDoS protection – and we include them at no charge. Why? Because we know they are that important. Your success is our business.’
The relief that they provide such an excellent level of security as part of their plans is fantastic. Not all web hosting providers do this.
Liquid Web offer plenty of security add ons to secure your site
We also like that should you choose to, you can upgrade or ‘add on’ to your level of security. It is easy to do so.
For example, if you want more protection, each of these add-ons can be enhanced, changed, or added to a wide selection of products. These include SSL, domain registration to PCI Compliance Scanning and Firewalls with VPN.
It is a clever way to help Liquid Web continue to engage with their customers and draw them in enough to spend more money with the web hosting provider. It also ensures that smaller-scale businesses they are not paying for unnecessary over-the-top levels of security.
As we know, when security across a web service breaks down or is victim to a hack or breach, the whole business can break down. The long-term effects of a security breach can damage brand perception, trust and transparency with customers.
Liquid Web has recognised the challenges faced by UK businesses and created a security system and promise which addresses precisely what customers want.
Liquid Web Security Features
With many preventative measures, Liquid Web provides the following security features to their customers as an add on:
Pros & Cons
What We Like & Dislike About Liquid Web
Cheaper alternatives –There will always be more affordable alternatives for web hosting and while looking for the best website host on the market, with such a competitive space. Some plans exist for less than $19 a month (Liquid Web’s lowest cost for a managed WordPress site).
Plan structure – Sometimes less is more, and this can be true for Liquid Web. Offering seven different plans can be confusing for those new to the market, especially those who are not well researched or tech-savvy.
Pricing increase – The levels of pricing can jump relatively high from level to level. Depending on your initial investment, you may find yourself quickly changing plans to allow for more features.
Security – The levels of security change across plans. While you are offered features at the entry-level plan, this will cost more if you need added protection. Always something to be aware of when selecting the right plan for you and your business needs. As we all know, anything added on can come out at quite a considerable cost if you are not careful.
What Are The Alternatives To Liquid Web?
Do We Recommend Liquid Web?
Absolutely! Liquid Web has an excellent reputation for WordPress hosting with its high performance, 100% uptime, regular backups, high security, and lightning-fast customer support. However, it’s not the cheapest hosting provider, but not the most expensive either!
Yes, you have to pay a bit more than other providers offering WordPress hosting. However, suppose you want sites to rank higher, perform better, and build a great all-around experience for your users. In that case, there’s no denying that Liquid Web is a great solution to speed up your site.
Overall our experience of using Liquid Web has been excellent. Liquid Web performs exceptionally well in three big areas of uptime, speed, and customer support.
